Although some companies deposited the initial due amount required for the license of DTH (Direct-to-Home) but none of the company completed the procedure and hence, no DTH license has been issued to any company. It was stated by ex-minister for information and broadcasting Sherry Rahman while talking to Samaa TV.
It must be noted that in 2003, two companies were qualified to start DTH operations in Pakistan. Those two companies were Cross Currents Limited and the ARY Communications. Later, Pakistan
Television (PTV) announced to start DTH. As late as 2007, PTV invited tenders for provision of DTH equipment and leasing of satellite. However, no information has been released by PTV after that.
