Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA) Chairman Mushtaq Malik appeared on Thursday before a division bench of the High Court of Sindh (SHC) on contempt of court notice, in a constitutional petition filed by Direct Media Group which owns Saraiki language channel “Roshni Television.”

The alleged contemnor assured the court that letter dated 29-4-2009 refusing request for providing up-linking licence to petitioner/ applicant was issued pre-maturely and thus was being withdrawn. He also stated that the matter will be placed before the authority again for consideration. The bench after this assurance and due to paucity of time, disposed off the contempt of court application adjourning further proceedings to a date to be fixed later by the office of the court.
