PTV’s “Salam Pakistan” Transmission from August 1st

Managing Director Pakistan Television (PTV) Raja Arshad Khan on Thursday said that this year PTV would celebrate 14th August (Independence Day) as ‘Peace and Freedom-Day’. Giving briefing to media persons here at PTV headquarters he said that since last seven years the national broadcaster was presenting special programmes on Independence Day under the banner of Salam-Pakistan.

He said that this year PTV will start broadcasting special programmes for Independence Day from 1st August to 14 August and on 13th August at 12am a grand programme will be presented from the president house where President Asif Ali Zardari will be chief guest. He said that President Zardari on the occasion will address the nation and he will give felicitation to the nation.

Raja Arshad added that this year’s theme of the programmes is ‘Peace and Freedom’ and PTV will pay glowing tributes to the services of the internally displaced people and the security men. He said that through this programme PTV will project the need for independence and peace in the world.

He said that PTV would start airing its programmes in connection with the freedom movement from 1st August and these series will include the great stories of sacrifices which were rendered by the Muslims of Sub-continent for a separate homeland. MD PTV maintained that through its programmes PTV always tries to enhance patriotism feelings, encourages national youth to proud to be Pakistanis and convince the youth to understand their responsibilities.

He said that security personal and people of Malakand division have rendered a lot of sacrifices for the sake of the country and PTV wants to pay tributes to their sacrifices. He maintained that PTV would try to tackle the impacts of the Indian dramas on Pakistani youth through producing quality dramas presenting its own culture in order to create sense of patriotism among the Pakistani youth.
