‘Meray Mutabiq’, the popular programme of Dr Shahid Masood on Geo TV, was banned to be telecast on Monday night from the Dubai studios of Geo TV. The Geo TV management alleges that the program has been banned under “immense pressure” from President Asif Ali Zardari on the Dubai government,

Dr Masood presented his programme from a different location without the use of his studio and technical facilities and announced that he had been stopped by the local authorities from presenting his programme.

The popular talk show host also claimed that he had received serious life threats from PPP leaders who had told him to come to Pakistan and conduct his programme from this country and then “we will see you”.

The use of influence and pressure on a foreign government by the president of Pakistan is a direct attack on the freedom of the press in Pakistan, the Geo TV management said in a statement on Monday night.

It announced that the programme will still be telecast from a different location, as was done on Monday night. The management of Geo TV condemned the action of the Pakistani authorities to use the influence of a foreign government to deny freedom of expression and the Press.

It is the second time that the program “Mere Mutabiq” has been banned. It was disallowed to be telecast in late 2007 during era of ex-president Parvez Musharraf.

The government action against Geo TV programme was immediately condemned by a wide spectrum of political leaders, media organisations and human rights bodies.

Spokesman of the PML-N Ahsan Iqbal said it was an attack on the democratic freedom guaranteed under the Constitution and his party strongly condemned it. Chairman of the Pakistan Human Rights Commission Iqbal Haider called it a crude attack on all democratic norms and a violation of constitution which will be fought with full force.

It is hopeless ,and disgusting. I always feel that in our life time we will not see the country running fairly and with justice .This NROs or or any old or new face savings are always there but not for common people .We need this bloody change .We need Iron hand with justice.
All wealth new or old taken by the military ,politician, bureaucrat, civil servants , must be back to the treasury and it is not possible yet. This democratic process is very slow ,people are not selecting good parliament ,talk again and again is wasting time .Cheaters, stealers are always safe ,but if you have one installment of your tractor or a house left you will be punished or inside the jail .If somebody spoke about Zardaries,Sheriffes,or other Nawabs, they are criminals .This is what is in my beloved country .Aha Allah punish them the system can not punish them ,because it is made by them .I only pray to my Allah Save my country from these Vultures, and take care of the poor people who has no say ,it is ppp, N league, Q league, ANP, JUI, or any set up all they are testified .They polish their face and make the population fool for some time ,and they are there again .I think some serious solution is only in education education education but not in democracy. This is a sweet pill given to the poor by the millionaires members of parliament. Common man has no life in Pakistan if his conscious is awake. I do not have data but I heard from the Govt sources that 32 billion US Dollars are every year paid to the government in the shape of revenue ,not a single member of the parliament aware of it how it is spent .Dr.Shahid spoke about NRO or money matter ,threats are there in Dubai too.Money talk every where.
