PEMRA hails TV channels coverage

Mushtaq Malik, Chairman PEMRA, has appreciated several private TV channels for accurate, balanced and responsible coverage of the Charsadda bomb blast on November 10.
In a letter to responsible authorities of these channels, Mushtaq Malik said: “This indeed is in line with international best practices.” He said self-regulation was the best system for promoting high standards in the media industry and it was for the first time that an effective self-regulatory mechanism had been adopted by the media in the country.
“The impartial yet informative reporting of the incidence indicates that the media is performing its role by adhering to a sense of professionalism and ethical norms.”He hoped that this trend would continue in future also. The appreciation of private TV channels by PEMRA has been received as a pleasant surprise. The PEMRA gesture has been welcomed by media persons and people.
