Geo TV summoned over ‘dishonouring’ Sindhi cap

Sindh High Court on Thursday summoned a private TV channel, concerned ministries and others on the constitutional petition moved by Mohammad Akbar Shah seeking cancellation of the license of the TV channel over dishonouring Sindhi cap.

The division bench comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi issued the notice to the said company and persons seeking their explanation over dishonouring the cultural and civilization of Sindh.

The petitioner submitted that the private TV channel had violated the article 28 of the constitution through disgracing the Sindh cultural and civilization by using the shameful words against the Sindhi cap.

He submitted that it was responsibility of the stale to protect and promote the cultural and civilization of the country as well as its all units.

“Our culture is our identity and the people of Sindh cannot tolerate degradation of their culture whether it TV channel or any other platform’ said the petitioner.

The petitioner made respondent to ministry information and broadcast, Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA), Ministry for Culture, private TV channel, Independent Media Corporation Private Company, and the program host Dr Shahid Masood.
