PTV becomes profit earning entity, claims MD PTV

Arshad Khan Managing Director (MD) PTV claimed that in a short span of one year the organization has been made a profit earning entity.

Talking to select group of journalist on Friday about the performance of the organization, the Managing Director said when he took charge on December 2008, PTV was running in the loss amounting to Rs 30.1 million.

He said that Rs 40.4 million loans had been taken from banks and the organization had to pay about Rs 60.5 million to its staff in lieu of salaries; Arshad said that the organization was not only able to overcome the whereas Rs 50.9 million advertisement payments was pending.deficit by writing off its entire bank loan, it also made Rs 60.5 million payments to the clients.

Moreover, the organization saved Rs 30.1 million by signing an agreement with International Cricket Council (ICC) for having cricket broadcasting rights, which helped a lot in improving the financial position, he added. He pointed out that owing to these achievements; it became possible for the Prime Minister to regularize 800 PTV employees. He appreciated the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Qiara for taking keen interest in making the organization a profit earning entity.
