Kaira directs PTV to prepare feasibility to launch English and Sports Channels

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira Thursday directed the management of Pakistan Television on Thursday to prepare a feasibility report for launching sports and English channels. “I direct you to immediately prepare feasibility report for the launch of sports and English channels without any delay”, he directed the Managing Director PTV while addressing an oath-taking ceremony of Central Employees Union (CBA) of PTV here.
The Minister assured of providing full support to PTV adminsitration in implementing the project. He said if any problem was found in implementation it would be redressed.
He lauded the service rendered by the PTV at all times . Be it peace or war or the country may be passing through any crisis PTV always did very good work.
“Contribution of the PTV in the time of peace and war is remarkable,” he said adding that PTV had played an important role in wars, earthquake, flood and any other calamities.
He recalled that the plays broadcast by PTV were highly admired not only in Pakistan but all across the region. He said PTV has worked as a nursery for grooming talented people and added many well-known media icons had worked in this organization.
He said PTV is working on news with slogan “Truth with responsibility.” and lauded coverage of the events with the help of eight DSNGs the number of which he said would soon be enhanced.
“PTV would be provided modern equipment in order to further improve its service . Presently, PTV is facing tough competition as about 65 channels are in the market,” said the minister.
