Chairman of Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) Syed Adil Gilani has served a legal notice on a talk show host of a private television channel for uttering derogatory remarks about TIP and its chairman and demanded an unconditional apology.

The notice said a lawsuit seeking damages worth Rs500 million would be filed against the host and the channel if no apology was tendered.

In the notice served through his lawyer, Mr Gilani said the manner in which the host conducted his programme underlined the wrongdoing indulged in by media personnel.

He alleged that host Mubashar Luqman of Express channel had leveled false allegations against TIP in his programme ‘Point Blank’ on Oct 27 thinking that he would get away with his ‘nefarious’ and ‘uncalled for’ remarks. The managing director of the channel was also asked to tender an unconditional apology.
