The Supreme Court on Tuesday observed that Pakistan Television is neither committing contempt of court nor violating its orders in broadcasting cricket matches of the world cup as a private news TV claimed.

The apex court today concluded the hearing of Geo Super’s case regarding contempt of the court.

In his remarks, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said the PTV has rights to air all matches via through the antenna while the Geo Super has rights to air the same via satellite. Therefore, he said, both the channels were not found violating the law.

The court ordered the registrar to keep monitoring the channels if they are violating the rules, adding that Geo Super’s plea could be reconsidered if it has any complaint in the future in this regard.
